What I think is done on the grill converison, is that it is simply used filler/primer in the slot between the original crome grill frame and bonnet, then sanded flush and painted. I can see some signs of upcoming cracks in the painting now. However, it is not a bad idea actually, and it gives a smooth look.

This is a 1992 model, but has also some of the original equipment as for the latest models. It has telescopic steering stem, rear window sun blind and the warning triangle in the boot lid. From what I know wasn't this standard on pre 1993 models. I have allready completed with a left side electric mirror including switch and wire loom, and a automatic rearviewmirror with wire loom. This will be installed during the wintertime. It has not memory seats and IR locking system, but that will neither be installed, because I want to get Reccaro seats and do some mods on the doors locking system anyway.

I think that your car can be still in the same condition as now. Some cars is constructed for speed, some cars for acceleration. But I think, that your car was made for the comfortable feeling of the kompressor power, and everything goes on... and the "others" is'nt interest me Thanks for the photos

A lot of nice cars on the list, that's good.

In Norway it is probably the same number of E500E too. But due to the extreme custom tax rates we have here, are several of them rebuild cars. That means it is used a 10-year regular and wrecked E-class as basis for the registration. By sending an application to the Norwegian Vehicle Authorities and ask for a repair by a chassis change on the wrecked car, including upgrade to E500E spec's. The car do then get a bastard designation in the documents, but is completely original though, and no additional tax. This is done on my '94 Limited. Some are also converting a regular E-class with necessary changes to get the engine and transmission installed, but those cars will never be as good as an original E500E (this was done on my previous '92 500TE). It doesn't exist a complete list on the Norwegian 500's, but I think we have about 6 originals and more than 6 rebuild ones, where 3 of the rebuilded are untouched original cars (just as my Limited). We do also have an original '94 E60 AMG here. The silver Brabus 6.5 is a rebuild/original car.

Yes, you have a good point there. The E500E cars will never be a sports car like a Porsche etc.., it is a sport limousine, but a fast one though. And you are absolutely right about the feeling the kompressor gives. The car behaves just as a normal 500 on normal driving, having all the luxury in place. So when the extra power is wanted, it is there, just that simple.

The additional changes I like to do is minimal, and it is only a question about taste and preferences. It will anyway be done so it can be put back to original condition if wanted.

Yes, but those pics are locked up on my other broken PC at home at the moment. But I do also have them on my PC at work, so I can post some tomorrow. I can also explain how the conversion was done if you like. There are two converted 500TE's in Norway. They are build differently, but have all the original equipment both external and inside, and the drive train in place. Very rare and nice cars.
